Abstract
Purpose : To evaluate clinical performance of Moving Nose Pad(MNP) developed for PALs fitting and intended to suggest an effective guideline in PALs practice.

Methods : 55 subjects(male 48, female 7)(53.1¡¾4.6 yrs) who consented to this study and have worn PALs were recruited. The fitting parameters and subjective satisfaction of habitual PAL spectacles were measured. After two weeks wearing of the spectacles replaced with MNP, subjective satisfaction was assessed.

Results : The pupil height and vertex distance showed significant differences in fitting MNP for far and near viewing positions. In assessing subjective satisfaction of moving nose padded spectacles after two weeks wear, 47% of subject experienced blurred vision at computer work and 95% of them obtained clear vision with moving spectacles up. 82% of subjects experienced blurred vision at reading newspapers and 96% of them recovered clear vision with moving spectacles up. Adaptation to adjust the frame up or down took less than a week in 86% of subjects.

Conclusions : Although there were significant differences of fitting condition with MP nose padded PAL spectacles, it is possible to wear MP nose padded spectacles without adaptation duration. Also it is considered that discomfort of wearer hard to get used to PAL spectacles can be reduced or extra expense that can occur is able to be saved.
